El hotel eléctrico ( German The Electric Hotel ) is a Spanish comedy from 1908. Directed by Segundo de Chomón , who also took on the male lead.
action
Bertrand and Laure check into a very modern hotel and want to convince themselves of the technical possibilities it offers. After pressing a few buttons, the luggage moves into the hotel room as if by magic and unpacks itself. As the two hotel guests get ready for bed, they let themselves be pampered by the electrical appliances and their hair combed. Bertrand also writes an automatic letter to his parents to let them know how convenient and simple this hotel is. He gets another ghostly shave before going to bed.
Meanwhile, the hotel servant, while drunk, pulls a few levers, causing chaos in which all the technical furniture is out of control.
Background information
The film is one of the first films to deal intensively with stop-motion technology. However, it is not the first film to deal with this technique. As early as 1906, Segundo de Chomón made the puppet animation film Le théâtre de Bob . In addition, directors such as Georges Méliès dealt with films such as Une nuit terrible with the technique of stop motion. However, the film is the first to be made using the pixilation technique .
