Elbschloss brewery
The Elbschloss brewery was founded in 1881 in the Prussian town of Nienstedten (incorporated into Altona in 1927, part of Hamburg since 1937 ) and was the only significant industrial company in this place. It was built on parts of the former park area that belonged to the classicist country house Baur built by Christian Frederik Hansen from 1804 to 1806 . The Landhaus Baur was popularly known as the “Elbschlösschen”, from which the name of the brewery was derived.
The best-known brand of this brewery was Ratsherrn Pils , which was brewed in 1978 in the order of 150,000 hectoliters. Furthermore, the dark Pils Dübelsbrücker Dunkel , created in 1988, was brewed, a reference to the neighboring Teufelsbrück .
history
In 1918 the neighboring Teufelsbrücke AG export brewery was incorporated . After an interruption in production as a result of the Second World War , a steady upswing followed, especially after the currency reform in 1948 , which allowed larger investments in 1953 and 1954. 1982 Elbschlossbrauerei in one was Aktiengesellschaft under the company Elbschloss-Brauerei AG converted. In 1993 it was integrated into the Brau und Brunnen group. In 1994 the brewery was transferred to the Elbschloss-Brauerei GmbH, the AG remained the company that owned the premises. In 1996 the Elbschloß-Brauerei AG was incorporated into Bavaria-St. Pauli-Brauerei AG integrated. When Brau und Brunnen wanted to close down the brewing facilities in Hamburg in 1997, after massive protests the city of Hamburg acquired Bavaria-St. Pauli-Brauerei GmbH and sold it to Holsten-Brauerei AG soon afterwards . The brewing operation on Elbchaussee was finally stopped in 1997, the manufacturing facilities were dismantled and shipped to Romania .
The brewery owned a tavern on Elbchaussee , which was sold in 1975 and opened by Armin and Emmi Scherrer in 1976 as Landhaus Scherrer .
Todays situation

On the rest of the site, upscale condominiums were built in new buildings and, in 2001, the Elbschloss Residence was a senior citizens' residence. With a public restaurant, the senior citizens' residence continues the traditional function of the building, which is now a listed building.
