The Electricity was built at the Yarrow Shipyard in Millwall ( London ), had a steel hull, was around 8 m long, 1.6 m wide and had a draft of 0.6 m . As a power source of the Electricity served battery cells 45 from the Electric Power Storage Company, coupled to two electric motors from the manufacturer Siemens worked and a propeller of 0.5 m diameter with a nominal speed / drives of 350 min. The electric motors had a nominal speed of 950 rpm, the speed was reduced and reversed with a gear. The accumulators and electric drive machines were arranged concealed below the wooden deck. The capacity of the accumulators was sufficient for about six hours of operation at an average speed of 8 knots .
history
In 1882, Anthony Reckenzaun designed the battery- powered Electricity, one of the first important electrically powered boats in England. The boat went on the maiden voyage on the Thames manned with four people upstream from Millwall to London. It achieved a speed of 8 knots with the nominal power of the drive motors.
