Elena Basile

Elena Basile (born December 26, 1959 in Naples ) is an Italian diplomat who has been ambassador to Brussels since April 3, 2017 .

Education

In 1982, she graduated in political science at the University of Naples L'Orientale from.

Life

In 1985 she joined the foreign service and was employed in the cultural relations department. Subsequently, she was first class diplomatic secretary in Tananarive and at the consulate in Toronto .

In Rome she was occupied with environmental issues. In 1998, she was the deputy head of the Department for Licensing the Export of War Weapons. From 1999 to 2002 she was first class delegate in Budapest. From 2003 to 2007 she was first class delegate in Lisbon . In 2008 she was Head of the OSCE Section in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2010 to 2012 she headed the North America department and wrote dossiers on the United States. From 2013 to 2017 she was an ambassador in Stockholm .

Publications

In addition to relevant specialist literature, she also wrote short stories and a novel. In 2005 she was accepted as an officer in the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic .
