Elena Zuasti
Elena Zuasti (born May 18, 1935 in Montevideo , † April 8, 2011 ibid) was a Uruguayan actress .
Life
Zuasti was born in Montevideo in 1935. At the age of 20, she successfully completed her training at EMAD , a school for dramatic arts, at which she later also became a senior lecturer. Until 1976 she was a member of the Comèdia Nacional . In 1971 she received a grant from the French government. An invitation to the USA followed three years later. From 1970 to 1990 she held a management position in the theater of the Casa Municipal de Cultura . In addition, after the death of Sergio Otermin , she took over the post of director of the Casa de Comedias .
She taught them stage performance for several decades. She also appeared in the Compañía Teatral Italia Fausta and on Comediantes.com .
She was one of the first artists to appear on Uruguayan radio and adapted several European pieces (including by Samuel Beckett , Shakespeare , Calderón de la Barca , Roger Vitrac and Voltaire ), but also used works by local authors such as Jorge Sclavo and Eduardo Sarlos or Ana Magnabosco back. Zuasti was also a TV and cinema actress. So she worked u. a. in El año del dragón , A cara o cruz and in the Aldo Garay film La espera (2002). For her interpretation in La marquesa de Sade by Yukio Mishima she was awarded the Florencio Sánchez Prize . Further nominations for this award followed in 1999 for her acting performance in Greek and in 2000 for La muerte de un viajante .
She died on April 8, 2011, presumably of complications from a heart attack , while she was on stage in the role of Martiniana in the play Barranca abajo .
