Jorge Sclavo

Jorge Sclavo (born October 1, 1936 in Montevideo ; † July 31, 2013 there ) was a Uruguayan writer , librettist , journalist and humorist .

Jorge "Cuque" Sclavo worked for Marcha , El Popular , Peloduro , El Dedo , Brecha , Guambia , Jaque , La Democracia and the magazine of the Hot Club de Montevideo . He wrote humorous texts for Marcha and Peloduro. He was also a columnist for the Búsqueda . Sclavo created the libretto for La Pensión 64 , a humorous program on Radio Carve . In 1975 he also worked as a librettist for the television channel Canal 10 . From 1966 to 1971 he worked as a director, actor and arranger in the Club de Teatro and the Teatro Circular . For twelve years he also worked in the advertising industry for the company "Gray". In 1977 and 1979 he received the national advertising award of the El País for his work there with the Premio Nacional de Publicidad . Sclavo also wrote some books with a humorous background in the late 1980s and early 1990s. These were Petiso Larrosa Ilustrado , Los bleques del Cuque , Los tangos del Cuque , El quiosco del Cuque , Encyclopaedia Cuques (Diet) , Los abominables Cuques and Cuque contraataca .

Sclavo also wrote three award-winning novels. For the novella Un lugar para Piñeiro he was awarded the First Prize of the Feria Nacional de Libros y Grabados in 1966 . In 1972 he received the price of the Uruguayan Ministry of Education and Culture for Primer cielo, primera tierra . In 1985 he was awarded the Prize of the Intendencia Municipal of Montevideo for De los espejos y lo feroces que son .
