Elga is a genus of dragonflies consisting of two species. The genus belongs to the subfamily Brachydiplacinae and wasdescribedby Friedrich Ris in 1909. Thepreviously undescribed species Elga leptostyla servedas the generotype . The distribution area extends from Panama to Perú and Brazil .

features

Elga species are comparatively small dragonflies and reach lengths between 26 and 28 millimeters. The abdomen ( abdomen ) and the chest ( thorax ) are black. There are yellowish spots on the sides of the thorax and on segments one to seven. The cerci are almost cylindrical. Their wings are dark and very broad. This differs from the other genera through the non-touching complex eyes .

Habitat

The adults of the genus Elga live on rivers within forests.
