Construction of the Imago

The approximately 20 millimeters long, thin abdomen of the males is black and has yellow markings. This consists of a ring on the second segment that is not completely closed at the top. There are large spots on the pages of the third segment. The sixth to eighth segments have yellow spots and the seventh a double spot. The second as well as the seventh to ninth segment are thickened, so that a spindle shape results. The chest ( thorax ) is black with a greenish yellow pattern in the males. There is a stain directly at the shoulder seam. The legs are black except for the yellow inside of the femur . In the males, the lower lip is whitish yellow with a diffuse, broad blackish piece in the middle. The upper lip is yellow-brown and the face is olive-green. The adjoining forehead is reddish brown and the parietal bladder is metallic blue. The hind wings are about 20 millimeters long. Both pairs of wings are diffuse yellow. The wing mark ( pterostigma ) measures under 2 millimeters.
