The Roman Catholic Diocese of Catamarca ( lat. : Dioecesis Catamarcensis , span. : Diócesis de Catamarca ) is one in Argentina situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca .
history
The diocese of Catamarca was established on January 21, 1910 by Pope Pius X with the papal bull Sollicitudine from cession of the Apostolic Prefecture Tumaco and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires as a suffragan . On April 20, 1934 it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Salta as a suffragan. On September 8, 1969, the diocese of Catamarca gave up parts of its territory to establish the territorial prelature of Cafayate .
