The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Paraná ( Latin Archidioecesis Paranensis , Spanish Arquidiócesis de Paraná ) is an in Argentina situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Paraná .
history
The diocese Paraná was on June 13, 1859 by Pope Pius IX. Erected with the Papal Bull Vel a primis from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Buenos Aires and subordinated to the Archdiocese of La Plata o Charcas as a suffragan . On March 5, 1866, the Paraná diocese was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires as a suffragan. On February 15, 1897, the Diocese of Paraná gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Santa Fe . Another assignment of territory took place on January 21, 1910 to establish the diocese of Corrientes .
On April 20, 1934, the diocese Paraná was by Pope Pius XI. raised to the archbishopric. The Archdiocese of Paraná gave on February 11, 1957 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Gualeguaychú . Another assignment of territory took place on April 10, 1961 to establish the diocese of Concordia .
