The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Sucre (Latin Archidioecesis Sucrensis , Spanish Arquidiócesis de Sucre ) is one in Bolivia situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Sucre .

history

The diocese of Sucre was established on June 27, 1552 from the cession of the diocese of Cuzco as the diocese of La Plata o Charcas . It was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Lima as a suffragan . On July 20, 1609, the diocese of La Plata o Charcas was raised to an archbishopric.

On November 11, 1924, the name of the Archdiocese of La Plata o Charcas was changed to Archdiocese of Sucre .
