The Archdiocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Latin Archidioecesis Sanctae Crucis de Sierra , Spanish Arquidiócesis de Santa Cruz de la Sierra ) is one in Bolivia situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Santa Cruz de la Sierra .

history

The diocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra was established on July 5, 1605 from cessions of territory from the diocese of La Plata o Charcas . It was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Sucre as a suffragan . On July 30, 1975, the diocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra was raised to the archbishopric. The archbishopric gave up several times in its history parts of its territory to establish new dioceses.
