The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of La Paz (Latin Archidioecesis Pacensis in Bolivia , Spanish Arquidiócesis de La Paz ) is one in Bolivia situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in La Paz .

history

The diocese of La Paz was established on July 4, 1605 from cessions of territory from the diocese of La Plata o Charcas . It was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Sucre as a suffragan . On June 18, 1943, the diocese of La Paz by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Ad Spirituale Bonum raised to the archbishopric. The archbishopric gave up several times in its history parts of its territory to establish new dioceses.
