Percy Lorenzo Galván Flores

Percy Lorenzo Galván Flores (born August 10, 1965 in the province of Tomás Frías ) is a Bolivian clergyman and appointed Roman Catholic Archbishop of La Paz .

Life

Percy Lorenzo Galván Flores moved with his family to San Lucas as a child and entered the seminary of the Archdiocese of Sucre in 1984 , where he completed the theological preparatory course. For further philosophical and theological studies he switched to the national seminary in Cochabamba in 1985 . On July 18, 1991, he received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Sucre.

After working in pastoral care, he was episcopal vicar for the pastoral care region of La Frontera from 1996 to 1998 . After further studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he obtained a licentiate in Biblical theology in 2001 . From 2001 to 2005 he was the Regens of the diocesan seminary in Sucre, before being appointed Vicar General of the Archdiocese for a three-year term in September 2005 . He was then responsible for preparing the 6th diocesan synod of the archdiocese. From 2005 to 2013 he was pastor in Sucre, cathedral chapter and responsible for the diocesan museum. He was also a member of the Economic, Pastoral and Priestly Council of the Archdiocese of Sucre.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him prelate of Corocoro on February 2, 2013 . The Archbishop Emeritus of Sucre, Jesús Gervasio Pérez Rodríguez OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on May 1st of the same year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Giambattista Diquattro , Apostolic Nuncio in Bolivia, and Toribio Ticona Porco , Prelate Emeritus of Corocoro. The inauguration took place three days later.

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of La Paz on May 23, 2020.
