San Lucas is a town in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

location

San Lucas is the central place of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) San Lucas in the province of Nor Cinti . The village is located at an altitude of 3,047  m on the left bank of the Río San Lucas , which flows downstream into the Río Turuchipa and from there flows into the Río Pilcomayo , which in turn belongs to the catchment area of ​​the Río Paraguay .

San Lucas is located on the southwestern foothills of the Bolivian Cordillera Central , between the Altiplano in the west and the Bolivian lowlands in the east. San Lucas is located 211 kilometers by road south of Sucre , the capital of the department.

The 898-kilometer Ruta 5 highway runs through Sucre and leads from the Cordillera Oriental across the Altiplano to the Chilean border. From Sucre, the road leads 84 kilometers south via Yotala to Millares . From there the road continues in a south-westerly direction to Betanzos and Potosí . From Millares after 41 kilometers on the western edge of the Pampa de Lekesana , an unpaved road branches off to the south, which reaches San Lucas after 85 kilometers via the villages of Calapaya and Keluyo .
