Yotala is a town in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Yotala is the central place of the district (Bolivian: Municipio ) Yotala in the province of Oropeza . The city is located at an altitude of 2513  m on the left bank of the Río Yotala , which flows into the Río Cachimayu after seven kilometers and continues into the Río Pilcomayo .

Yotala is east of the Altiplano in the Bolivian Cordillera Central . The climate is a moderate altitude climate with a typical time-of-day climate , in which the temperature differences fluctuate more during the day than during the year.

The annual average temperature in Yotala is around 16 ° C (see climate diagram Sucre), the monthly average values ​​fluctuate between 14 ° C in June / July and 17 ° C in October / November. Yotala is 23 kilometers by road south of the departmental capital Sucre .

The 900-kilometer Ruta 5 highway runs through Yotala and leads from the Chilean border in the west via Potosí and Sucre into the Bolivian lowlands. The road between Yotala and Sucre is paved.

A single-track railway also runs through Yotala and travels the 171-kilometer route from Potosí to Sucre three times a week.
