Michel Aupetit
Michel Christian Alain Aupetit (born March 23, 1951 in Versailles ) is a French doctor, bioethicist and clergyman as well as Roman Catholic Archbishop of Paris .
Life
Michel Aupetit comes from a remote family. When he was 20 years old, he bought a Bible that opened up his path to Christian faith. He first completed a medical degree at the Medical Faculty in Créteil and worked as a doctor in Colombes for twelve years . He entered the seminary at the age of 39 and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Paris on June 24, 1995 . From 1997 to 2006 he attended further training courses in bioethics at the Henri Mondor University Hospital in Creteil. After various tasks in pastoral care, he was Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Paris from 2006 to 2013 .
On February 2, 2013, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . as titular bishop of Maxita and auxiliary bishop in Paris. The Archbishop of Paris , André Armand Cardinal Vingt-Trois , donated him episcopal ordination on April 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Éric Marie Pierre Henri Aumonier , Bishop of Versailles , and Jean-Yves André Michel Nahmias , Bishop of Meaux .
On April 4, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Nanterre . The inauguration took place on May 4th of the same year. On December 7, 2017, he appointed him to succeed André Vingt-Trois as Archbishop of Paris . The inauguration took place on January 6 of the following year. On January 8, 2018, the Pope also appointed him full professor for believers in oriental rites without a hierarchy of their own in France.
On December 22, 2018, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Congregation for Bishops . On July 13, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Congregation for the Clergy for five years .
