Giambattista Diquattro (born March 18, 1954 in Bologna , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman, Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Giambattista Diquattro received on 24 August in 1981 by the Bishop of Ragusa , Angelo Rizzo , the sacrament of Holy Orders . He was at the University of Catania in civil law and at the Pontifical Lateran University in canon law doctorate ; he also has a degree in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University .

On May 1, 1985, Giambattista Diquattro entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See . He has served in the Apostolic Nunciatures in the Central African Republic and Italy and in the Permanent Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations in New York City . On May 12, 1987, Pope John Paul II awarded him the honorary title of Chaplain to His Holiness ( Monsignor ). Later Giambattista Diquattro was employed in the Vatican State Secretariat .

On April 2, 2005 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To Titular Archbishop of Giru Mons and ordered him to the apostolic nuncio in Panama . He was ordained bishop by Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano on June 4th of the same year; Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Italy and San Marino , Archbishop Paolo Romeo , and the Bishop of Ragusa, Paolo Urso . Diquattro was the last nuncio and the last Italian cleric to be given the episcopal dignity during the pontificate of John Paul II.

On November 21, 2008 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Apostolic Nuncio in Bolivia .

On January 21, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in India and Nepal. On August 29, 2020, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil.
