Angelo Rizzo

Angelo Rizzo (born April 11, 1926 in Montedoro , Province of Caltanissetta , Italy ; † July 16, 2009 ibid) was Bishop of Ragusa .

Life

Angelo Rizzo studied at the Seminary of Caltanissetta Catholic theology and philosophy . He was ordained a priest on October 31, 1948 . He was subregens and prefect of studies at the seminary of Caltanissetta. In 1965 Angelo Rizzo was appointed Archpriest of Montedoro and Director of the Office of Catechesis of the Diocese of Caltanissetta . He also became a canon at the Cathedral of Santa Maria La Nova .

On February 2, 1974, he was appointed Bishop of Ragusa. He was ordained bishop on March 18 of the same year by the Archbishop of Palermo , Salvatore Cardinal Pappalardo ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Caltanissetta, Alfredo Maria Garsia and the Bishop Emeritus of Caltanissetta, Francesco Monaco. At the Italian Bishops' Conference , Rizzo was a member of the Commission for the Laity . His age-related resignation was granted by John Paul II on February 16, 2002.
