Paolo Urso (born April 17, 1940 in Acireale , Province of Catania , Italy ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and emeritus bishop of Ragusa .

biography

Paolo Urso was ordained a priest on October 7, 1962 .

On February 16, 2002, he was appointed Bishop of Ragusa by Pope John Paul II . The Archbishop of Palermo , Salvatore Cardinal De Giorgi , ordained him episcopal on April 12 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Acireale , Salvatore Gristina , and the Apostolic Nuncio in Italy, Archbishop Paolo Romeo .

In the Sicilian Episcopal Conference , Paolo Urso was the delegate for clergy, seminaries and vocations. In January 2012, Paolo Urso publicly spoke out in favor of state recognition of same-sex couples.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on October 7, 2015.
