Carmelo Cuttitta (born March 24, 1962 in Godrano , Province of Palermo , Italy ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Ragusa .

Carmelo Cuttitta was born on March 24, 1962 in Godrano, a small town in north-western Sicily . After philosophical and theological studies at the Archbishop's seminary in Palermo, he was ordained a priest on January 10, 1987 by the Archbishop of Palermo , Salvatore Cardinal Pappalardo .

He performed various tasks in the Archdiocese and the Sicilian Bishops' Conference . From 1987 to 1988 he was Vice Rector of the Archbishop's Seminary, from 1987 to 1995 diocesan assistant of the Azione Cattolica Giovani, from 1988 to 1990 parish vicar of the parish “Sant'Atanasio” in Ficarazzi and from 1990 to 1996 secretary to the Archbishop of Palermo. From 1996 to 2007 he was pastor of the parish "San Giuseppe Cottolengo" in Palermo.

Since 1991 he was assistant secretary and later general secretary of the Sicilian Bishops' Conference .

On May 28, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Carmelo Cuttitta as titular bishop of Novi and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Palermo . The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Paolo Romeo on July 7 of that year. Co- consecrators were Salvatore Gristina , Archbishop of Catania , and Domenico Mogavero , Bishop of Mazara del Vallo .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Ragusa on October 7, 2015 .
