Tomás Frías is a province in the northern part of the Potosí department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia . The province is named after the former president (1872/73) Tomás Frías Ametller . The capital of the province is Potosí with 174,973 inhabitants. ( 2012 )

The Tomás Frías Province is one of sixteen provinces in the Potosí Department. It extends between 19 ° 00 'and 19 ° 50' south latitude and between 65 ° 32 'and 66 ° 24' west longitude . It borders in the northwest on the Oruro department , in the southwest on the province Antonio Quijarro , in the south on the province José María Linares , in the east on the province Cornelio Saavedra , in the north on the province Chayanta .
