Rafael Bustillo is a province in the Potosí department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia . The province bears its name in honor of the Bolivian diplomat and Foreign Minister Rafael Bustillo († 1886).

location

The province of Rafael Bustillo is one of sixteen provinces in the Department of Potosí. It lies between 18 ° 11 'and 18 ° 45' south latitude and between 66 ° 11 'and 66 ° 45' west longitude . It borders in the northwest, west and south with the Oruro department , in the southeast with the province of Chayanta , in the east with the province Charcas , and in the northeast with the province Alonso de Ibáñez . The province extends for about 70 kilometers in an east-west and north-south direction.

The capital of the province is the city of Uncía , the largest city of the province is Llallagua with about 25,000 inhabitants. ( 2012 ) The province is home to the most important tin mines in the country of Bolivia, which were largely abandoned after the collapse of the world tin market in the mid-1980s.
