Aymaya is a town in the Potosí Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Aymaya is the central place of the canton Aymaya in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Chayanta in the province Rafael Bustillo . Aymaya is located at an altitude of 3748  m in one of the high valleys of the Cordillera Azanaques , the ridge directly northeast of the village rises to over 4100 m. The place is located below the location with a river, Rio Khasata Kaua to Rio Chayanta combined.

Aymaya is east of the Bolivian Altiplano in the northern section of the Cordillera Central . The vegetation is that of the puna , the climate is a typical time of day climate in which the daily temperature fluctuations are greater than the seasonal fluctuations.

Aymaya is located at a distance of 127 kilometers by road southeast of Oruro , the capital of the neighboring Oruro department .

From Oruro, the paved road Ruta 1 leads south 22 kilometers via Vinto to Machacamarquita , eight kilometers north of Machacamarca . In Machacamarquita, the route 6 branches off in a south-easterly direction and reaches the city of Llallagua after 79 kilometers via Huanuni and over pass heights of more than 4,500 m . From there the Ruta 6 leads another seven kilometers to the provincial capital Uncía . Here a dirt road branches off to the east and after seventeen kilometers reaches Chayanta and Aymaya, two kilometers to the northwest .
