Machacamarca is a country town in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The city of Machacamarca is the central place of the municipality of the same name Machacamarca in the province of Pantaleón Dalence . It is located on the southeastern bank of Lake Uru-Uru , south of the city of Oruro on the road and railway line to Poopó , both of which branch off to the Catavi mining area.

The Machacamarca Railway Museum houses rail vehicles from different decades that were used in Bolivia.

Machacamarca is located at an altitude of 3728  m on the left bank of the Río Huanuni , which flows into the Uru-Uru Lake . The city is bordered in the east by the high mountain ranges of the Cordillera Central .
