Sur Chichas (also Sud Chichas ) is a province in the southeastern part of the Potosí department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

location

The province of Sur Chichas is one of sixteen provinces in the Department of Potosí. It lies between 20 ° 51 'and 21 ° 50' south latitude and between 65 ° 15 'and 66 ° 30' west longitude . It borders in the north with the province of Nor Chichas , in the north-west with the province Antonio Quijarro , in the west with the province Nor Lípez and the province Sur Lípez , in the south with the Republic of Argentina and the province Modesto Omiste , in the southeast with the department Tarija , and to the east to the Chuquisaca department . The province extends for about 130 kilometers in east-west and north-south directions.

45 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 74 percent live without sanitary facilities. 34 percent of the population work in agriculture, 11 percent in mining, 6 percent in industry, 49 percent in services. 88 percent of the population are Catholic, 8 percent Protestant.
