The municipality of Tinguipaya ( Quechua : Tinkipaya ) is a district in the Potosí department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia . The central place of the district is Tinguipaya .
Location in the vicinity
The Municipio Tinguipaya is one of four Municipios in the Tomás Frías Province . It borders the province of Chayanta in the north, the province of Cornelio Saavedra in the east, the municipality Potosí in the southeast, the municipality Yocalla in the south, the municipality Urmiri in the southwest , and the department Oruro in the west .
The central place of the municipality is Tinguipaya with 628 inhabitants in the central eastern part of the district, the largest village is Anthura with 1,164 inhabitants. ( 2012 )

The municipality of Tinguipaya is located on the eastern edge of the Bolivian Altiplano in front of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central .
