Ricardo Ernesto Centellas Guzmán (born November 7, 1962 in Suquistaca ) is a Bolivian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Sucre .

Life

Ricardo Ernesto Centellas Guzmán was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Sucre on August 11, 1988 . After further studies he obtained a licentiate in spirituality from the Pontifical Gregorian University .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on June 30, 2005 titular bishop of Turres Ammeniae and auxiliary bishop in Potosí . The Bishop of Potosí, Walter Pérez Villamonte , donated him episcopal ordination on September 15 of the same year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Ivo Scapolo , Apostolic Nuncio in Bolivia, and Jesús Gervasio Pérez Rodríguez OFM , Archbishop of Sucre.

On November 25, 2009 he was appointed Bishop of Potosí and on January 28, 2010 he was appointed to the office.

From 2012 to 2015 he was Vice Chairman of the Bolivian Bishops' Conference . On November 17, 2015, he was elected Chairman of the Bishops' Conference and confirmed in this office in 2018.

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Sucre on February 11, 2020. The inauguration scheduled for April 16, 2020 was initially suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and took place two months later.
