The Archdiocese of Corrientes ( lat. : Archidioecesis Corrientensis , span. : Arquidiócesis de Corrientes ) is in Argentina situated Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Corrientes .
history
The diocese of Corrientes was established on January 21, 1910 by Pope Pius X with the Papal Bull Nobilis Argentina Res Publica from ceded territory of the Diocese of Paraná and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires as a suffragan . On April 20, 1934, the diocese of Corrientes was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Paraná as a suffragan. The diocese of Corrientes gave up on February 11, 1957 parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Posadas . On April 10, 1961, there was another assignment of territory to establish the Goya diocese .
On April 10, 1961 the diocese of Corrientes was by Pope John XXIII. raised to the archbishopric. The Archdiocese of Corrientes gave up on July 3, 1979 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Santo Tomé .
