The Roman Catholic Diocese of Puerto Iguazú ( lat. : Dioecesis Portus Iguassuensis , span. : Diócesis de Puerto Iguazú ) is a in Argentina situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Puerto Iguazú .

history

The diocese of Puerto Iguazú was established on June 16, 1986 by Pope John Paul II with the papal bull Abeunt alterna vice from ceding territories from the diocese of Posadas and subordinated to the archdiocese of Corrientes as a suffragan diocese. On June 13, 2009, the diocese of Puerto Iguazú gave parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Oberá .
