Eli Araman

Eli Araman (* 1934 ) is a former Egyptian basketball player and coach.

Life

Araman took part in the 1959 basketball world championship with the United Arab Republic team and scored an average of 5.5 points per game in four tournament games. In the 1960s he was a coach at the Hamburg Basketball Association and at the club level at USC Paloma . In 1968 Araman moved like the entire basketball department of USC Paloma to SV St. Georg . In the game year 1969/70 the men's team St. Georgs, which he supervised as coach, rose to the basketball league . After a year he was relegated with the team from the highest federal German league, and Araman took care of St. Georg from then on in the regional league.

In 1973/74 he led the women of Hamburger SV in the final fights for the German championship against Göttingen 05. In the first game there was a 65:65 tie, but in the second they lost and were runner-up. In the following season 1974/75 he was relegated to the Bundesliga with HSV. From 1973 to 1976 he coached the men's team of SC Rist Wedel in addition to his duties as HSV coach , after which he was coach of VfL Pinneberg in the 2nd Bundesliga. In addition, he worked for the German Basketball Association in the mid-1970s and coached the German women's national team at the 1974 European Championship. In 1983 he led the women of the Ahrensburger TSV to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. Later in the 1980s and 1990s he was a coach at SV Lurup .
