Eli "Paperboy" Reed (* 1983 in Boston , Massachusetts ; actually Eli Husock ) is an American soul and R&B musician.
Reed, who grew up in Brookline near Boston, was introduced to African American popular music by his father, a music critic. He learned the piano, guitar and harmonica as an autodidact and made street music . After high school he played with Sam Carr in Mississippi . During his studies in Chicago he acted as musical director for the singer Mitty Collier during her gospel services . In Boston he founded his band The True Loves . In 2009 he was nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year in the MOJO Awards .
