Eliahu Toker

Eliahu Toker (* 1934 in Once , Balvanera ; † November 3, 2010 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine writer and translator.

Toker majored in architecture at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and was able to successfully complete this degree. He also practiced the profession of architect until 1982 and from that time devoted himself exclusively to his literary work.

Toker began translating Yiddish authors while he was still a student and had built up an excellent reputation as a translator over the years. In addition to his translations, u. a. of works by Jacob Glatstein , Jizchak Katzenelson , H. Leivick and Abraham Sutzkever , he also acted as editor of Alberto Gerchunoff , Carlos Grünberg and César Tiempo .
