Ultimate Force is an American action film directed by Mark Burson from 2005 with MMA fighter Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipović in the lead role of ex-soldier Axon Rey. The film was shown in cinemas in Croatia and also released on DVD in numerous countries, in Germany on February 24, 2011. A German re-release of the film in June 2014 is entitled Sphinx - Fight to Death .

The Croatian killer Axon Rey works for an opaque military organization. During an assignment to murder a well-guarded politician in East India, he refrains from liquidating a female witness. His superior Janus then sends him to a remote island, where Rey is supposed to complete a training program that ensures his functioning. The exams that he undergoes there may pass. a. from unsubstantiated injections and a series of struggles for survival against other participants in the program. Rey manages to escape during an attack by an actually overpowering special force and to free some of his fellow examinees and his ex-girlfriend Sara with the help of Janus. Convinced that the organization would now like to see him dead, Rey takes on Janus' order to eliminate their military leaders. Only slowly does he understand that he is being used by Janus, who wants to take power in the organization himself. Rey has to decide who is the real friend and the real enemy. He can render Janus harmless.
criticism
Film Critics United called the film "a low profile production, a terribly bad excuse for an action film". The lexicon of international films saw an "action film according to the usual scheme, which is unwound without any particular highlights".
