Eliana Printes

Eliana Printes is a Brazilian singer from Manaus , Amazonas , Brazil.

With her debut CD Eliana Printes from 1994 she was nominated for the Sharp Awards (currently the Tim Awards) in the category "Revelação da Música Popular Brasileira" (Newcomer Award). In the course of her career she has recorded six albums with her own compositions as well as compositions by friends. There are also two best-of albums and various collections. These appeared both in Brazil and outside the country. The CD "Divas Cantam Jobim" was released in 2007 by Som Livre in Portugal . In the same year she starred in the film Nokia Music Recommenders, directed by Wim Wenders .

biography

Eliana was born into simple circumstances. Her mother was a housewife and her father was a carpenter. Sometimes he created and set up the scenarios for the large Teatro Amazonas in Manaus. In his spare time he played pandeiro . Music has always interested him. When Eliana was 12, she started playing the guitar .

She spent her childhood in Manaus , where she listened to the radio every day. She also often listened to her father's records. In 1994 she traveled to Rio de Janeiro , where she recorded her first CD entitled "Eliana Printes". In 1996 she got a contract with Indie Records / Universal Music . After that, she was able to publish a number of other works, including another five CDs, the songs of which were composed by both her and friends.

The singer had two important appearances in German-speaking countries in 2011. On the one hand the Brazilian Night in the series "Klassik am Weberplatz" in Potsdam with the symphony orchestra Collegium Musicum Potsdam conductor Dr. Knut Andreas , on the other hand, a performance in the Musical Instrument Museum in St. Gilgen , Austria .

Printes currently lives in Rio de Janeiro .
