Elias Muukka

Elias Muukka , until 1870 Elias Kaijansinkko (born June 10, 1853 in Lemi , Grand Duchy of Finland , † October 2, 1938 in Helsinki , Finland ), was a Finnish landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Muukka was the son of the farmer Matti Kaijansinkko and his wife Christina Muukka. Even as a child in Vyborg , Muukka was interested in drawing . He deepened this interest between 1874 and 1877 when he attended the drawing school of the Finnish Art Association in Helsinki. He then traveled to Düsseldorf , where he was enrolled at the Royal Prussian Art Academy in 1877/1878 . There were Andreas Müller and Heinrich Lauenstein his teachers. In 1880/1881 he stayed in Paris and attended the Académie Colarossi . He then returned to Finland and worked as an art teacher in various secondary schools. In 1883 he married Anni Agnes Fagerlund († 1931). In 1924 he was made an honorary member of the Finnish Art Association, and in 1928 he was given the title of professor .
