Elias Rudolf Camerarius

Elias Rudolf Camerarius , also Camerer (born May 7, 1641 in Tübingen ; † June 7, 1695 in Tübingen) was a German physician , university professor and personal physician .

His parents were the Tübingen doctor and pharmacist Johann Rudolf Camerarius (1618–1675) and Agnes, geb. Schön, daughter of the pharmacist and university relative Elias Schön.

In September 1652 he was enrolled at the University of Tübingen . After he received his doctorate in 1663 , he held medical lectures for several years and was also practically active. On November 28, 1668, Elias Rudolf Camerarius, nicknamed Hector I, was accepted as a member ( matriculation no. 32 ) of the Academia Naturae Curiosorum , today's German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina . In 1672 he was appointed personal physician to the Duke of Württemberg and in 1677 he was appointed full professor of medicine.

With his wife Regina Barbara (1643–1697) he had the sons Rudolf Jacob Camerarius and Elias Camerarius , both of whom became physicians.
