Elias VI. (Périgord)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Elias VI. Talleyrand († around 1203/04 ) was a Count of Périgord from the House of Périgord . He was a son of Count Boson IV and Comtorissa.

Life

Elias took part in the revolt of the Aquitaine feudal lords against their Duke Richard the Lionheart in 1181 . However, he quickly put down the uprising, whereupon Elias was forced to submit in 1182.

After Richard the Lionheart was captured in 1192, Elias joined another uprising, now in league with King Philip II of August and Count Raymond V of Toulouse . This time the uprising was crushed by the ducal seneschal Elias de la Celle and Prince Sancho of Navarre .

The last time Elias appeared in a document was a donation to the Notre-Dame Abbey of Chancelade from the year 1203/04. He was married to Raymonde, a daughter of Raymond de Turenne, vice count of Ribérac. In addition to the future Count Elias VII. Archambaud I was probably her son.
