Elif Güneri (* 9. October 1987 in Karabük , Turkey ) is a Turkish female boxer in light heavyweight .

Education path and career

Elif Güneri attended elementary and middle school and then the vocational high school in her hometown. She has played volleyball since elementary school. She completed a sports teacher degree at the Sakarya Üniversitesi and Kastamonu Üniversitesi and teaches sports at a middle school in Zonguldak. Elif Güneri is around 1.83 m tall and started boxing in 2005.

Continental championships

She won bronze medals at EU championships in 2010 and 2011, after having been eliminated in the quarter-finals in 2009. At the European Championships in 2009 and 2011, she was eliminated before reaching the medal ranks.

In 2016 she won the gold medal at the European Championships in Bulgaria and in 2017 also the gold medal at the EU Championships in Italy .

In 2018 she became vice European champion in Bulgaria and won the European championships again in Spain in 2019 . In addition, she also won the Balkan Championships in 2019 .

World championships

At the 2012 World Championships she was eliminated in the preliminary round, but then won a World Cup bronze medal in South Korea in 2014 , Kazakhstan in 2016 and India in 2018 .

Her greatest success to date was achieved in Russia in 2019 when she won the runner-up world title.
