Elina Kritzokat

Elina Kritzokat (born December 13, 1971 in Osterholz-Scharmbeck ) is a literary translator from Finnish. She has German and Finnish citizenship.

Life

Elina Kritzokat studied literature and graduated with a master's degree . Since 2002 she has been translating fiction , children's and youth literature, poetry, comics, non-fiction books , plays and films from Finnish into German . Elina Kritzokat lives in Berlin .

She is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ. For the "Junge Weltlesebühne" in Berlin, it offers schools from grades 1 to 10 to prepare readings from their translations in front of the students, with the aim of familiarizing them with the subject of "translation" or "Finnish literature". This applies to all types of schools and libraries.

In 2019 she was awarded the Finnish State Prize for Foreign Translators .
