Elio Piccon

Elio Piccon (born January 25, 1925 in Bordighera , † March 6, 1988 in Rome ) was an Italian documentary filmmaker , screenwriter and cameraman .

Life

From 1943 Piccon attended the “Avviamente ottico” course at the Roman Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia , was an assistant at Ubaldo Arata during this time and became a cameraman after graduating. From 1948 on he published numerous short documentaries and for three years was the supplier of reports for the weekly newsreel "Mondo Libero". After a trip to feature films in 1954, another important film was Italia 61 from the same year in which he made an anniversary film for the Fiat factory in co-production with the Walt Disney Company at the Circarama cinema . His unusual film L'antimiracolo , completed in 1965 and made with amateur actors, brought Piccon the Golden Lion of the Venice Film Festival . From 1966 he concentrated again (with a third and final feature film exception in 1969, La scoperta ) on short documentary works.
