Elisabet Tursynbajewa ( Kazakh Элизабет Тұрсынбаева ; born February 14, 2000 in Moscow ) is a Kazakh figure skater . In 2019 she was both vice world champion and vice four continents champion . She is also the first woman who could stand a quadruple jump during a competition.

biography

Tursynbajewa got into figure skating through her older brother Timur . After the 2014/15 season she moved to Canada to train under former world champion Brian Orser . After she repeatedly came to the podiums of various competitions in the Challenger series , but not to the Grand Prix series , world championships or the 2018 Olympic Games , she switched back to her old trainer Eteri Tutberidze in Moscow . Here she became a teammate of the Olympic champion Alina Sagitowa .

The following season was the most successful so far for Tursynbayeva. She won the silver medal at the four continents championships and the world championships . In addition, she was the first woman to do a quadruple jump ( quadruple Salchow ) in the freestyle of the World Cup .

Tursynbajewa studies music in Moscow.
