Strohausen is a district ( peasantry ) of Rodenkirchen and thus part of the municipality of Stadland .

history

The historical origin of the place lies in the Strohauser Siel , it was a navigable connection to the Weser . The first written mention of the Siel was probably 1417, it is uncertain. In 1658 it existed with certainty, was renewed several times and finally expanded into a stone sewer in 1773. In the 19th century, a harbor with a quay developed in the outer bay . Grain, peat, bricks and other general cargo were handled here. The ships of the Weserdampfschifffahrt dock here. In Strohausen there was a secondary customs office, 1st class. Lime and brick kilns were built in Strohausen during the 18th century. There were two brickworks and a brewery here in 1850. The Strohhauser Mühle was built in 1802 and was destroyed in a fire in 1912. Three old brick houses from around 1850 have been preserved on the “Zu den Deichen” street, although some of them have been heavily modified.
