history

The place name refers to the location in the moor and the status of the farmers. Kötermoor was diked around 1400, at that time it was still called Friesenmoor. The first settlers in Kötermoor were so-called "Herrenköter", ie mutts who run their farm on the land of a nobleman. The people lived from the mining and sale of peat , mostly to Butjadingen . The first school can be proven for the year 1648. Since 1947 there has been no school in Kötermoor. There was a school night in Kötermoor in the 19th century . The mill night, which is also located here, had a catchment area of ​​1539 ha and built a pumping station in 1927 .

Administrative history

Kötermoor belonged to the parish of Strückhausen after it was dyed around 1400 . Then it went up in the Vogtei Schwei. From 1933 to 1948 Kötermoor was part of the Rodenkirchen community. Since 1974 it has been part of the municipality of Stadland.
