Elisabeth Elliot

Elisabeth Elliot (born December 21, 1926 in Brussels as Elisabeth Howard ; † June 15, 2015 in Gloucester (Massachusetts) ) was an American evangelical missionary , author and speaker.

Life

Elisabeth Elliot was born in Belgium to a missionary family. In 1948, she graduated from Wheaton College and was preparing to travel to South America as a missionary . In 1952 she started her work in the Andes . In 1953 she married Jim Elliot , who had also studied at Wheaton College. The Elliots then worked as missionaries in the eastern part of Ecuador . The marriage produced a daughter. In January 1956, her husband and four other missionaries were killed by a group of Huaorani .

Elisabeth Elliott continued her missionary work after the death of her husband.
