Elisabeth Nill (born February 26, 1932 in Stuttgart - Cannstatt ) is a former German politician ( SPD ). She was a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament from 1972 to 1988.

education and profession

Nill grew up in a small attic apartment with her parents and three siblings. Her father was an unemployed foreman. She attended high school and studied history, English and German in Munich and Tübingen. She began working as a teacher in Freudenstadt and later worked in Esslingen . She was a co-founder of the Citizens' Action Democratic Initiatives , which dealt with the NPD and development aid.

Political activity

In 1965 Nill became a member of the SPD, and later also of the Evangelical State Synod. She belonged to the city council and the district council, first in Freudenstadt, later in Esslingen am Neckar. From 1972 to 1988 she was a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament. The first time she won a second mandate in the Freudenstadt constituency , and later in the Esslingen constituency . Her first political focus was the fight against the NPD , later on education, art, culture, the environment and women. She was a member of the state board of the Association of Social Democratic Women AsF . She was also deputy chairwoman of the advisory board of the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation , member of the theater advisory board of the Württemberg State Theaters , member of the advisory board of the Baden-Württemberg Youth Protection Campaign and the board of trustees of the state center for political education .

On April 20, 2013 she received the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg from Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann .
