Elisabeth Schmidt (politician, 1920)
Elisabeth Schmidt (born November 27, 1920 in Vienna ; † January 31, 2012 in Melk ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and housewife. Schmidt was from 1972 to 1975 member of the Federal Council and from 1975 to 1983 Member of the National Council .
Life
Schmidt attended a secondary school from 1930 to 1938. She then worked as a secretary between 1938 and 1945 and subsequently as a housewife.
Schmidt was involved between 1960 and 1968 as the local leader of the Austrian women's movement in Melk and was also active in the Melk district between 1961 and 1986 as the district and main district leader of the Austrian women's movement. After that, Schmidt was district and main district manager of the Austrian women's movement in St. Pölten from 1969 to 1988 . Between 1964 and 1967 she was also active as a state social officer for the Lower Austrian women's movement, from 1965 to 1974 she was the regional director of the Lower Austria disaster relief and from 1967 to 1970 executive director of the Lower Austrian women's movement. From 1970 to 1983 she finally took over the office of regional director of the Lower Austrian women's movement, from 1974 she was also deputy federal director.
Schmidt was a member of the Federal Council from February 24, 1972 to November 4, 1975 and a member of the National Council from November 4, 1975 to May 18, 1983.
