Elisabeth Willinger

Elisabeth Willinger (* around 1947) is a former Austrian table tennis player . She was one of the best players in Austria in the 1960s and 1970s.

Career

Elisabeth Willinger played for the SV Vienna Police Club . From 1965 to 1974 she won the Austrian championship five times . In 1965 she replaced her sister Henrike Willinger as Austrian champion. In 1966 she defended the title and won it again in 1970, 1972 and 1974. There are also several top placings:

  • 1962: Victory in doubles with Henrike Willinger
  • 1964: 2nd place in singles, victory in doubles with Henrike Willinger
  • 1965: 2nd place in doubles with Henrike Willinger
  • 1966: Victory in doubles with Henrike Willinger, 2nd place in mixed with Günter Heine
  • 1967: 2nd place in singles, victory in doubles with Henrike Willinger, victory in mixed with Viktor Hirsch
  • 1968: 2nd place in doubles with Gabriele Smekal , victory in mixed with Günter Heine
  • 1969: 2nd place in mixed with Günter Heine
  • 1970: Victory in doubles with Gabriele Smekal, 2nd place in mixed with Günter Heine
  • 1971: Victory in doubles with Hildegard Hintner , 2nd place in mixed with Günter Heine
  • 1973: Victory in doubles with Hildegard Hintner
  • 1974: Victory in doubles with Hildegard Hintner, victory in mixed with Rudolf Weinmann

Between 1963 and 1971 she took part in four world championships and once in European championships . It never came close to medal ranks. By 1971 she was nominated 56 times for the national team.

Elisabeth Willinger's sister Henrike was also a national player and four-time Austrian champion in singles.
