Life

Origin and family

Elisabeth von Holstein-Schaumburg grew up as the daughter of Count Jobst von Holstein-Schaumburg (* 1483, † 1531) and his wife Maria von Nassau-Dillenburg († 1547, daughter of Johann V (Nassau) ) in a noble family . She had numerous siblings, including Adolf and Anton (both Archbishop of Cologne), Otto (ruling count) and Jobst (Herr von Gemen ). Prince-Bishop Franz von Waldeck was a distant relative of Elisabeth.

Career and work

On June 23, 1524, the anniversary of the death of Abbess Anna von Dorsweiler-Chriechingen , Elisabeth's father confirmed the contract concluded with the convent on her appointment as abbess.
