Emergence

The park in its current appearance was created in 2006 and 2007 from a fallow land under the project management of Deutsche Bahn to compensate for the use of natural areas between the Westkreuz and Charlottenburg stations during the construction of the high-speed line Hanover-Berlin . Initially, the facility was referred to as a park on the Anhalter Bahnhof .

The approximately 3.6  hectare area consists of a plateau and a low plain.

Plateau

In the center of the area, accessible via five stairs, a bicycle ramp and an access road, at a height of more than four meters, the seven platforms and tracks of the former train station are still recognizable and accessible amidst the overgrowth and gravel . A boardwalk has been installed across them. The structure is surrounded by a circular path with benches and other paths.

In the north, the park ends at the rear of the Tempodrom . Only a narrow arm west of the building extends to the Anhalter Bahnhof S-Bahn station .

The southern end of the hill offers a panoramic view of the lowlands, the Hallesche Ufer on the Landwehr Canal , the Tempelhofer Ufer on the other side, the elevated railway of the U1 line , the new facade of the German Museum of Technology with the " Raisin Bomber " and the Postbank high-rise , the Tempelhof-Kreuzberg district court , Möckernbrücke and Möckernstrasse in the east of the park.

The Anhalter Steg leads to the site of the technology museum .

Right: the western lowlands. In the middle the Anhalter Steg leads over the Hallesche Ufer and the Landwehr Canal under the railway viaduct to the Technical Museum .

Lowlands

The two quarter circles at the southern end of the park are connected to the plateau via funnel-shaped grass slopes and three stairs. In the larger of the two partly paved , partly lawn and flower beds areas, there are further benches. A low wall and a high decorative fence with a total of five exits separate it from the street.
